ABOUT THE NECK LIFT

The neck lift, or platysma plication, is a surgical procedure performed to correct sagging and loose skin on the neck area.. A neck lift is often combined with other facial surgical procedures to enhance one’s appearance, and restore a more vibrant look to the face and neck area.

GOOD CANDIDATES FOR A NECK LIFT

Candidates for the neck lift have realistic expectations and exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Fat deposits in the neck
  • Sagging and loose skin under the chin
  • Vertical bands on the neck

HOW IS A NECK LIFT PERFORMED?

A neck lift can be performed using a number of surgical procedures. Dr. Arzadon will choose the best method for your individual needs. Typically, incisions are made behind the ears. The excess skin around the neck area is removed and the remaining skin is tightened by pulling it back and toward the incision at the ears.

After a neck lift, patients should expect to experience some swelling and bruising around the areas. These side effects typically subside in 4 to 10 days. An elastic garment should be worn at night for approximately two weeks. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities two days after the procedure.
