THE FACELIFT

A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is performed to improve the overall appearance of the facial area, addressing issues such as sagging skin and lack of facial muscle tone. As the face is often the first area of the body to show signs of aging, the facelift procedure can refresh your appearance and provide a more vibrant look.

WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR A FACELIFT?

Facelifts can minimize the effects of aging, sun exposure, stress, and smoking. Good candidates for a facelift procedure are those who exhibit facial flaws such as the following:

  • Drooping muscles
  • Sagging skin
  • Jowls

THE FACELIFT SURGERY

A variety of different surgical techniques can be used to perform a facelift. Dr. Arzadon will advise you which technique will be used in your procedure. Incisions are typically made around and behind the ears and may extend into the scalp. Through the incisions, the deeper facial layers are lifted, muscles are tightened, and liposuction is completed as necessary.

After the procedure, the incisions are closed, and drains or dressings may be placed to remove fluid which can accumulate under the skin. Each patient’s recovery time is different, and Dr. Arzadon will provide complete and clear instructions as to what you should expect during the recovery period. You should expect some swelling after the procedure, although, within a few weeks, you’ll be able to see the clear results of your facelift surgery.

Patients undergoing a facelift will have some scarring. Dr. Arzadon places incisions so that the appearance of scarring is minimal. While scars may be dark after surgery, they will lighten over time.
