What Is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery, technically known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that is performed to improve the appearance of the eyelids. This surgical procedure is commonly performed in conjunction with other common facial procedures, such as the brow lift, or skin rejuvenation procedures.
Benefits of Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery is useful for correcting eyelid issues that can prematurely age the face. A tired appearance around the eyes can make a person appear differently than they feel, preventing you from putting your best face forward every day. The procedure can correct drooping eyelids, remove bags under the eyes, and eliminate excess skin from the area.
The Eyelid Surgery Procedure
Depending on your needs, several techniques can be used to complete the eyelid surgery procedure. For example, incisions are made in the natural fold of the eyelid for upper eyelid surgery and the extra fatty tissue and skin will be removed. For lower eyelid procedures, incisions are typically made below the lower lashes of the eye.
Sutures are made and left in place for a few days. Dr. Arzadon will provide all the details about your surgery before you undergo the operation and answer any questions you may have. Scars are minimal and may be seen if you’re really looking for them. Don’t worry, they will fade over time. After eyelid surgery, patients may feel minor discomfort, and a period of rest is typically beneficial.
